Continuing Activities From Prior Years

Various organizations and individuals have been at work since 2002 implementing projects under the name of the Crossroads Coalition and creating a structure that will add greater efficiency and effectiveness to the collective endeavor. The Crossroads Coalition wishes to engage everyone with an interest in the region who desires to be part of this comprehensive broad-based development effort. The following activities constitute the Continuing Activities for the Crossroads Coalition action effective January 2007:

Continuing Activity 1: Continued Recruitment and Development of Mailing List of Pillar Group Members

The Crossroads Coalition has created mailing list of people who have participated in some aspect of the Coalition. Presently, electronic mail and the Crossroads website ( http://CrossroadsCoalition.org ) are the primary methods by which notification of Crossroads activities are made. If you desire to be added to this list, contact Otto Loewer or call 479-575-5118.

Continuing Activity 2: Continued Distribution of the Crossroads Connection - the newsletter for the Crossroads Coalition

The Crossroads Connection is a monthly newsletter that started publication in October 2006. Archived copies may be downloaded by clicking here. Those on the mailing list (see Activity 1) are automatically sent an electronic version of the newsletter.

Continuing Activity 3: Creation of the Crossroads Foundation

A continuing goal of the Board of Directors is that the Crossroads Foundation be formally created and sufficiently funded to begin recruitment of an Executive Director and to support a number of activities that positively impact the region as a whole such as marketing, grant writing, etc. Legal documents have been filed with final approval pending. There is a strong possibility that the Executive Director will be hired in 2008.

Continuing Activity 4: Regularly scheduled meetings for the Board of Directors and the Pillar Groups

The Board of Directors has set the first Tuesday of each month at 3:00 pm for its regularly scheduled meeting. The regularly scheduled meeting date for the Pillar Groups is the third Wednesday of each month with exact meeting times to be posted on the Crossroads website. Deviations from this schedule will be posted on the website as well.

Continuing Activity 5: Annual meeting of the Crossroads Coalition

The Board of Directors has a planning committee for its annual meeting. No time is set but the event is expected to occur late in the calendar year. In 2007 the Annual Meeting will be Nov. 13 at the Technology Center for the Delta.

Continuing Activity 6: Updates and Growth in the Crossroads Website

The Crossroads website serves three functions. First, it tells what is going on within the Crossroads organization via events, projects, accomplishments, successes, etc. Second, it serves as a focal point for information about the assets of the Coalition. And third, it serves as the focal point for growing the Crossroads network of those interested in the Crossroads vision and mission. Accordingly, the website will always be in a constant state of change as the Coalition grows and progresses. However, the major revision planned for 2007 is not expected to be repeated in the near term.

Continuing Activity 7: Continued Pillar Group growth, and Project Identification and Implementation

Participation in Pillar growth activity is open to all who have an interest in working towards the Vision and Mission of the Crossroads Coalition and will work respectively with others having similar interest. Individuals may join any of the pillar groups at any time and may choose to focus on whatever projects are of interest. Past activities of the various pillar groups may be reviewed via the minutes of each as archived on the Crossroads website (to see these click here) .

Specific Projects
Specific projects are often parts of larger more comprehensive projects. Furthermore, it is possible that a specific project will become a continuing project or that a specific project will extend into the next calendar year. Regardless, it is important to recognize that in the Crossroads approach, is specific projects are the result of someone championing the particular area from conceptualization to planning to completion with the assistance of others who have similar interest.
